2022 LT, brand new, A/C not working

Hi All,

After renting a number of late model Sparks in various parts of the USA I finally decided to just buy one myself. I live in the Phoenix, AZ metro area and, like much of the nation, it continues to be quite hot here even into September. Daytime temps have been skirting with 110 degrees pretty much all summer. This is not unusual for this part of the country. But here's the thing. Since I bought my Spark in the Flagstaff area the temps were much cooler when I took delivery. Yesterday though, when I drove the car here in Phoenix I noticed that the A/C was blowing cool but definitely NOT cold. Also, I noticed that the vents on either side of the vehicle blew much less well than those in the center. The situation was unpleasant enough that even after about 30 minutes of driving, the interior of the Spark was only slightly cooled. Now this is a vehicle with less than 200 miles on the odometer. A 2022 model. So I didn't think it was normal in any way. This was confirmed when I brought the Spark into the local Phoenix Chevrolet dealer and their service writer agreed that the A/C wasn't up to snuff. Fortunately, I've another vehicle to drive while they attempt to fix mine. Might take a couple of weeks, I'm told due to the backlog of service work at the dealer. After all that, I get to the gist of why I'm posting here. I haven't been able to see any similar issues online though I've looked. I wonder if others in the Spark owner community have experienced anything along the lines of what I've conveyed. Again, this is a MY 2022 vehicle, brand new. I know the '13 MY Spark had some issues of this kind. But I've not seen anything online about newer units facing A/C problems. I'll be grateful for any useful feedback. Thank you in advance. :)

I ordered a brand new 2022 Spark 2LT trim line fully spec’d from the factory Including alloy pedals and black bow tie badges And the sunroof. Mosaic black metallic in February finally delivered 2 weeks ago. I live in the burbs of Philly. This vehicle is by far, has the coldest AC of any vehicle I have owned. I put a meat thermometer in the center vent. The AC coming out was 39-40 degrees and the temps outside was 90 degrees extremely happy with this vehicle. I wish you luck in getting yours fixed.

On the downside, the lane departure warning camera mounted in the front of the rear view mirror DOES NOT pick up the center yellow road markings as I deliberate veer the car over the lines, it will only detect the white painted lines on the side of the road. Unsure if this is correct or not. I will hav her ask the dealer. This is my first experience with a CVT it is what it is but gets the job done for this class of vehicle. A class size.

Thank you so much for your truly encouraging response. I only hope that once fixed my little Spark emulates the ice cold A/C you've mentioned. With re. to lane departure warning, I don't have that on my vehicle but as with my A/C problem, perhaps the dealer can correct your situation so that we can both be 100% happy with our acquisitions. :)

Please remember you have the full factory warranty so at the end of the day, your ac issue will get resolved.

A real shame that GM kill off the vehicle at the end of August. Ordering banks closed at the end of June

I also agree the spark is very cooling in summer heat despite its small stature. I baby mine, he sleeps in the garage haha

Mine is garage kept as well and considering my garage is 27 foot deep. you could fit 2 sparks nose to tail at the same time and still have room for a motorcycle behind them.
Over here in so-Cal...it's been hot all summer. AC works great...2021 model. Recirc helps, and cooler when you're moving. Rarely turn the fan on full high, three is enough.
If it's not ice-cold there's something wrong with it.
If it's over 110 nothing is going to be able to keep up.
