Hi, new to the site I have a green 5 speed LT1. I love my car I have almost 8,000 miles on it. My issue is the air conditioner the car has been out of service 9 days trying figure out why the air cycles from ice cold to warm several times a minute. all new sparks on the lot do the same thing. The dealership has given up GM says they have no answer. Any ideas?

If all new Sparks do this I would assume there might be a TSB out for it.

My guess.... A/C Condenser is faulty, but it could be a few other things. Have you tried taking it into a different dealership? or better yet calling Chevrolet customer service to see what they can do?

air conditioner

No TSB, Chevrolet customer service no help, AC compressor working
Thats weird that other sparks did it in the lot. Could be a faulty thermostat.
I bought my car in August 100 miles from my home. I noticed this right off on the trip home. While I never got hot, it was irritating that the a/c cycled like this. Then on a 100 degree day, in the heat of the day I took a trip across town, the a/c never got cool. I took it to my local dealer (from whom I did NOT buy the car) and they told me everything was working great. I called my dealer that I bought the car from and complained, he acted surprised and told me he would let me know if he heard anything about it. Needless to say, I never heard anything from him, he's made the sale and that's all he cares about. I love this little car, but the a/c is definitely a big disappointment. I hope they can come out with a fix on this before this summer's heat wave comes. I live in Oklahoma and we always have many 100+ degree days in the summer time...
Any updates on the issue?
I haven't heard any. When spring comes around, I'll be calling my local chevy house and asking them if there is a 'memo' on this issue.
Not sure where exactly you're located but it is starting to warm up, now that it's the first official day of spring, are you going to be calling them soon?
Me and my local chevy house don't get along. They don't like the fact that I bought my Spark from out of town. I am on vacation next week so I will be taking it to them for the radio upgrade and I'll be asking them about the a/c again. I'm in Oklahoma and it gets hot in June here.
Very strange problem. My spark does not have this problem.

If there is a recall I would like to get this fixed before it happens to me.

Thats how it always is with dealerships, if you buy from them, they treat you really good. And it's best to always do that, find a dealership that has the car you want, buy from them, and have them maintain it.

Good luck though, keep us posted and let us know how it goes.

BTW Chevrolet's customer service department is on this forum, so if any issues come up, you can go to them ;)

Chris, is your Spark a 2013 bought in America?
yes it is :)
yes it is :)
Interesting, do you know what the build date is on yours? Does it have illuminated controls on the steering wheel?
Now that it is getting warmer, I've noticed that if it is even close to warm outside, my air conditioner just never cools down. It stays lukewarm, or blows air even warmer than what's outside. Anyone else having this problem?
AC

Vapors started coming out of my vents when my ac was on a few min later it stopped getting cold, it has always been not so cold since we bought it we are taking it to the dealer tomorrow...

good luck and let us know how it goes. My dealer told me "it is doing what it's suppose to be doing"
I had a 2000 Civic & the compressor cut off when the steering wheel hit the stops (this was intentional to give the small gas motor more power) also when at idle - could Chevy have got too aggressive with this on the Spark - any updates ?
Check the below: Found it while browsing various Chevrolet websites to find out any info I could about my new 2013 Sparl 2LT. Hope this helps.

On some 2013 Sparks, the air conditioning may only blow warm air or may get slightly cooler during acceleration. During diagnosis, the A/C pressures may be erratic and the low side may be as low as 0 psi to 30 inches of vacuum.
Inspect for metal contamination in the A/C system by removing the plug from the bottom of the receiver/drier and checking for debris in the filter assembly. Also check for debris or contamination in the thermal expansion valve (TXV). If contamination is found, perform repairs as outlined in the appropriate Service Information and verify repairs.
My 2013 Spark is on its way back to the shop again, 4th time the air conditioner has broke. I called GM today and they are going to call the dealership and try to get it fixed for good this time. Other than the air conditioning issues I love my car. I have a feeling this is a wider problem then just my car.
