The Chevrolet Spark hasn't been around for long, and has only recently gone into production in South Africa, but the European model has already undergone a facelift.

We're still awaiting confirmation from GMSA, but we see no reason why the changes won't filter through to South Africa at some stage.

Set to make its world debut at the Paris Motor Show in late September, the biggest changes take place at the front end, where the Spark has a bigger dual-port grille that now incorporates the number place. Restyled headlight covers and fog lamps complete the new face.

Freshening up the rest of the exterior is a range of redesigned 14-inch and 15-inch alloy wheels and a high-mounted LED stop lamp integrated into the rear spoiler.

Not much has changed inside the cabin, but it does get some new décor elements and a remodelled centre console with more storage capacity.

The Spark's 60kW/108Nm 1.2-litre 16-valve engine has been carried over from the previous model and Europe also gets the option of a 51kW 1-litre engine.

Chevrolet is also using the Paris show to announce some minor upgrades on bigger models in its range.

The Orlando MPV, for instance, now gets the option of a 103kW/200Nm 1.4-litre turbopetrol engine, to complement the existing 1.8 petrol and 2-litre turbodiesel engines. The 2013 Orlando is also now available with a rear-view camera and a flat-folding front passenger seat.

Furthermore, the Malibu mid-sized sedan, which is not offered in South Africa, now gets the option of a 2-litre turbodiesel engine with 350Nm on tap.
