New in the Chevrolet Spark range for 2013 is a stylish small urban commercial transport solution, the Spark Pronto, made possible by the localisation of the Spark Hatch. This snappy light delivery vehicle is targeted at businesses, large or small, that have a need to deliver smaller lighter weight parcels to multiple destinations in an urban environment.

The Pronto is an ideal delivery platform for pharmaceutical and medical laboratory customers as well as service representatives, florists, local couriers, and service industries such as meter reading agencies. It also offers an ideal solution for security companies. As a fully-fledged commercial vehicle the Spark Pronto offers the advantage of a full VAT rebate on the purchase price for VAT registered business operators.

The Chevrolet Spark Pronto is based on the Spark passenger vehicle platform and was developed for local manufacture with the full technical and engineering support of Chevrolet in Korea where it has already been launched as well as in Mexico.

The Pronto features passenger vehicle like comfort levels together with a 275kg payload and 876 litres capacity and exceptional operating economy. For those that might want to carry light but longer pieces of cargo the Pronto comes fitted standard with roof-rails to facilitate the fitting of a roof rack.

The working environment for the local delivery driver can be a stressful one but the Spark Pronto goes a long way to reducing stress levels in the urban jungle courtesy of its passenger car like creature comforts including air conditioning, cup-holders and height adjustable driver’s seat. The vehicle is sold radio ready with speakers and wiring in place ready for a virtual plug-and-play installation for the on-cost radio option.

The compact size of the Pronto and its power assisted steering make parking in even the smallest of spaces a breeze – an important attribute for those drop-and-dash deliveries in built-up areas where parking is often at a premium. Safety specification is of a high level with front airbags for driver and passenger as well as ABS brakes with Electronic Brake Force Distribution provided as standard features.

The payload capacity of the Chevrolet Spark Pronto is 275 kilograms with the regular rear passenger and boot areas of the Spark Hatch converted to a cargo area with flat regular surfaces ideal for small parcel conveyance. Convenient access to the load area is provided either through the two rear side doors or the rear hatch. Key activated central locking is a convenient security feature. The front cockpit area is separated from the load area by a sturdy tubular divider for driver and passenger safety as well as added security. Side windows are protected by similar tubular frames fitted on the inside of the window frame.

The Spark Pronto is powered by the same 1,2 litre 16-valve dual overhead camshaft engine as the passenger model. Maximum power is a healthy 60 kW @ 6400 r/min with peak torque of 108 Nm @ 4800 r/min. Sufficient to make the Pronto a snappy performer with exceptional operating economy. Fuel consumption of just 5,4 l/100km is achievable for the combined measuring cycle.

The Spark Pronto offers a segment defining value proposition as an urban delivery solution that has been engineered for local manufacture and conditions with technical and engineering input from Chevrolet engineers in Korea. Its high level of operator comfort, combined with superb economy in operation, is supported by a 5 year/ 120 000km warranty with Roadside Assistance covering both breakdowns and accidents to get staff and payloads back to base safely in the event of an unexpected event.
