Just thought I'd report on what Consumer Reports is saying about the Chevy Spark EV. This car is said to be the most desirable version of the Spark that you can choose from. Here's why:
The Spark EV really picks up and goes. It is light and can get from 0-60 in about 8 seconds. One charge will last you about 82 miles, which is better than many of the Spark's competitors like the Leaf. The suspension is tweaked giving the Spark improved handling, and the muted baby blue color and minor styling tweaks, including new rims, really let the Spark EV outshine its petrol fueled cousin. Finally, the price is reasonable at $27,495, and if you live in California or Oregon (where the Spark EV will be first released,) you can get up to $10,000 in tax credits!
The one downside that Consumer Reports mentions is the long charge time. A full charge can take up to 7 hours to complete.
All in all, I am pretty convinced that the Spark EV would be a smart purchase for city drivers.
