How to remove the camshafts on the S-TECII 1.2?

Anybody remove the camshafts? I have the valve cover and chain off but there's a lip on the cylinder head which is catching on the inner part of the gear, preventing it from lifting out. I'm not sure hot to proceed. I also have questions about hot to time everything because there are no markings on the chain. Ultimately I'm replacing the head gasket btw. If anyone has a service manual I'd greatly appreciate it.
