According to a South Korean labor union spokesman, the next-generation Chevrolet Spark will launch in 2015 while the redesigned Sonic has been delayed.
The Spark, which is Chevrolet’s best-selling vehicle in Europe, will have its next-generation model built in South Korea, dispelling rumors that the American automaker was shifting production out of the country. The redesigned Sonic will also be produced in South Korea, but its launch won’t happen in late 2015 any more. The new Spark however, will make its debut in the first half of 2015.
GM’s Korean division exports the current Spark and Sonic (called the Aveo in other countries) to the U.S., Europe, and other markets with 70 percent of the Spark’s sales last year being exported.
