At this year’s SEMA show, Chevrolet will reveal a number of compact and subcompact concepts, including modified Chevrolet Cruzes, Chevrolet Sonics, and Chevrolet Sparks. Chevrolet will also introduce the Z-Spec parts line of accessories, which will be available for purchase and installation from dealers.
Chevrolet wants to make a big impact on the SEMA show with its small car lineup, which includes the 2013 Chevrolet Spark, 2013 Chevrolet Sonic, and 2013 Chevrolet Cruze. While some may be surprised Chevrolet brought to the U.S. the ultra-small Spark, the initial response has been strong, and it’s a central player in the automaker’s SEMA show presence. Another significant debut is of the Z-Spec brand, a line of aftermarket accessories that will be available for purchase and installation from Chevrolet dealerships.
Chevrolet says that the Sonic and Spark Z-Spec concepts could lead to limited-edition production models — a good idea if the automaker wants to maintain interest levels in the two small cars in the next few years.
“The content, colors and performance of each concept is being evaluated for possible production as Chevrolet continues to seek new ways to give customers more choices,” said Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet marketing, in a release.
Chevrolet Spark Z-Spec concept
Many of the accessories on the Chevrolet Spark Z-Spec concept can be found at Chevrolet dealers, and help bump up the subcompact car’s curb appeal, even with the 15-inch concept wheels. Though a Spark with too many aftermarket parts may cost as much as a nicely equipped Sonic, the Spark concept does show what’s possible on the car, which probably doesn’t have a high profit margin before options and accessories.

Chevrolet Sonic Z-Spec 1 concept
We’ve seen this Sonic’s Synergy Green paint job on the Camaro, but the compact Chevy sedan has more to offer than flashy paint. A Borla exhaust system, upgraded brakes, and a suspension kit increase performance while there are plenty of other accessories to make sure this Sonic turns heads.
The full list of parts from Chevrolet:

  • Chevrolet licensed accessories Borla exhaust system
  • Lowered ride height, with Chevrolet Performance concept suspension kit, including lowering sprints and performance dampers
  • Chevrolet Performance concept brake kit, featuring four-piston front disc brake calipers with 16-inch rotors

Chevrolet Sonic Z-Spec 2.5 concept
No, the 2.5 doesn’t signify that this Sonic has the Malibu’s 2.5-liter I-4 engine, as far as we can tell. What the Sonic Z-Spec 2.5 does have is special Abalone White Tricoat paint, a black interior with orange accents, and a body kit that appears to make the most of the four-door’s styling.
The full list of parts from Chevrolet:

  • Abalone White Tricoat exterior color with Z-Spec graphics
  • Unique ground effects package and lower fascia extensions
  • Chevrolet Accessories rear spoiler

  • Chevrolet Performance concept single-piston rear brake calipers with Sonic RS rotors

  • Chevrolet licensed accessories Borla exhaust system.
Chevrolet Cruze Upscale concept
Though we figured an upscale Chevrolet Cruze was a Buick Verano, the Cruze Upscale concept has a brown leather interior, 19-inch wheels finished in a color called “Black Ice,” and an appropriately muted Burnished Brandy Metallic exterior color.
The full list of parts from Chevrolet:

  • Unique ground effects package with rocker and fascia extensions

  • Door panels and instrument panel with Loft Brown and DK Atmosphere leather wraps and DK Atmosphere paint
  • Adjustable coil-over suspension kit
  • Four-piston front brake calipers with two-piece vented and drilled rotors
  • Two-piston rear brake calipers with vented and drilled rotors.
Chevrolet Spark Sinister concept
The Spark Sinister concept has a well-coordinated black-with-red exterior and cool bow tie graphics, but it’s that huge rear spoiler that catches our attention. The Spark has fender flares and 18-inch wheels, as well as a lowered ride height and a bold body kit.
Also at the SEMA show, Chevrolet has a Spark decorated to match participants of The Color Run 5K races, as well as a ‘Pink Out’ Spark Cancer Awareness concept whose purpose and modifications (pink everywhere you look) are obvious.
Which Chevrolet Spark, Sonic, or Cruze SEMA show concept is your favorite?
