Is it normal for the rear wiper to come on when using the front two if its pouring rain out as in a windy hurricane?
I never noticed the rear go on its own, but yesterday the rain was pounding down while I was driving. I also noticed when I stop and put the car in Park gear the rear one stopped.

Yes, it's a feature you can switch on/off via Convenience Features in the car settings. It's called something along the lines of "Auto Wipe Rear in Reverse". If you push down to clear the front wipers too and the car is reverse it will wipe the back wiper as well

Had similar experience yesterday. However it was when I put the car in reverse. I sat there for a moment or two and noticed for the first time my rear wipers were intermittently wiping. without having read up on it I am going to guess it a safety feature.
